About

A not-so recent picture. So just who is the dragon? The dragon (oft-times called 'Points,' when not being called by his more mundane name of 'Jonah') is an engineer currently residing in Colorado. An electrical engineer by education, a computer scientist by trade, he's been known to mix the two as inclination hits.

Born in New Jersey, he's done time in Florida, Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island and now Colorado. He spent the majority of his college years at Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute where he received his undergraduate degree, and originally started on his Masters. Since then, he's been continuing education part-time (and remotely) through Northeastern University and hopes to be done sometime in aught-one.

His work-history is varied. From humble beginnings as a sales associate for Egghead Discount Software through most of his high-school years, through to being a researcher for the Center for Advanced Technology, to being a number in the ranks of Raytheon's military-industrial complex, to his current work for Quova, Inc.

I live in a house with my housemate 'Boo', our puppy Shilo and two ferrets Madame Mischief and Mitu.

A number of folks have asked where the nickname 'Points' comes from. Technically, I picked it up my freshman year in College. We had our own internal discussion forum (Ah, the days of 'Connect') where I used to go by my old BBS handle of 'Hemlock.' The 'channel' I ran was for discussion and argument of day to day issues. A lady then known as Spock came in one day and started to argue very emotionally about a subject close to her. For the life of me however, I can no longer recall what the subject was. I changed my nickname online 'temporarily' to 'PointyEars' and started to act as 'Vulcan' as possible in counterpoint. Unfortunately, this suddenly started a deluge of 'Are you supposed to be an Elf or a Vulcan?' questions from all around the RPI network. Somehow, it stuck. Over the years, PointyEars was reduced to 'Points,' especially as I started to revisit my IRC haunts more faithfully. The shorter name was more useful. Points become my name of choice as I moved into other network forums, such as MUDs, MUCKs, MUSH's and the other MU*'s. It was in these latter places that I also picked up my 'association' with dragons that had been left behind since my younger high-school days.
